芳醇な味わい　rich in taste

One of the most famous boulanger in Paris, Dominique Saibron opened shops in Japan. One of the shops is located in Shinjyuku 2chome. I dropped by the shop and bought some plain bread. It looked like just bread, but was really rich in taste. The outside is crispy and inside is very soft and doughy. It’s worth a try.

Small sized Ryutic is about 160yen (?) each. The shop address is新宿区新宿2-12-8 1F。It seems like a confectionary shop.GO!

サクラ、ヤット、サイタ。

Finally! the last cherry blossom blooms

満開　in full bloom/ 春もすぐに終わり　spring will soon be gone.

Cherry blossoms have been blooming in Japan everywhere. We had cold weather, warm air, rain and strong wind this year. It must be a tough season for Cherry blossoms. And finally they started blooming in the northern part of Japan. Now they are in full bloom.It’s getting warmer and spring will soon be gone. We’ll welcome the season of fresh verdure.

３丁目のイスタンブール

Turkish restaurant “Istanbul”

自分の庭（のような）one’s backyard /. なじみの　one’s frequent

I had lunch with editor K-san. Shinjyuku gyoen area is her backyard. She took me to Istanbul, a Turkish restaurant she frequents. The kebab with sauce is spicy and sour but really tasty. The Turkish pudding was milky but had a different taste from an ordinary Japanese one. The tile mosaics on the walls are really pretty. The atmosphere and the smell of spice made me feel like flying to Istanbul.

Lunch specialty, served with Kebab, soup, salad and desert, was 980yen.

Happy three-year-old birthday!

Youka became a three-year-old! Now she talks about many things and when she can’t fully express herself, she just mumbles pretending to say something. It is said that a child repays her lifelong obligation with cuteness before three years of age. Are you gonna talk back to me? Well, I’m gonna learn how to be permissive, patient, tender and so on…along with your growth.

She grew so much but is still shorter than the frozen yogurt figure.

ほやほやのホヤ

Pineapple in the sea

ハマる　　be into～

This is the first time to eat Hoya, Ascidians, in this season. Usually hoya live in shallow water with a salinity over 2.5%. The texture and the taste is like a seashell with a somewhat strong taste. Some people don’t like it because of the taste, but once you become to like it, you’ll really be into it. Actually I’m one of them.

Cut the outside shell with a knife. I like eating it with Ponzu. It’s only 100yen at the supermarket in Sendai. Hoya looks somewhat like a pineapple, so that is why it is called ‘pineapple in the sea.’

南清貴さんの、おいしいアトリエ

しかも　furthermore / 一度食べたらやみつきに　once eaten and forever be custom

I visited the atelier of Kiyotaka Minami, who runs his deli shop “Kiyo’s Kitchen” in Isentan,. He served pasta with sweet and crispy vegetables, Bagna cauda with original sausage and so on… Every dish is good for your health and really tasty. I felt at ease eating those delicious cuisines and…spilt wine; furthermore it was a red wine! Oh my god. I’m so sorry. But Kiyo-san and his staffer Midori-san kindly forgave me.

Otsumame, namplar-flavored chick peas sold at Kiyo’s kitchen in Isetan, are once eaten and forever a custom.フードプロデューサー南清貴さんサイトはコチラ

苺の香りとベネディクティン

Opening the heavy wooden door, I found a wooden counter in the faint light. This is the bar “Bis” in Kagurazaka, which serves fresh fruit cocktails. At first I had a strawberry gin-based cocktail which has a strawberry flavor with the natural sweetness. Then I found one of my favorite liqueurs, ”Benedictine,” which has an herbal flavor. We enjoyed the meeting at the small counter of the bar in the calm atmosphere.
