I came to a square to see Ketachack dance. On the way to the place, there were many monkeys. They were very big and not cute at all. When my mom was taking a p picture of me, a monkey came to me and ripped off my hat from my head. It was sooo scary and I cried.

I, Youka, one-year-old, came to a cool restaurant “Kisik bar and grill” on the sea cliff in Bali. At the restaurant You can enjoy nice seafood with a great view and the sea breeze…but, foolishly, I dozed off! Gee, I was supposed to have a nice lunch other than baby food …hey mom, why you didn’t wake me up!

I came to the island, Bali. To tell you the truth, it doesn't matter whether I'm in Indonesia or Japan. It's sea! How big the sea is! Besides, there is so much more sand than in the sand box. It's white! Can you hear the sound of waves? I love playing on the beach.

It's time for summer festivals! I visited Sendai Tanabata. There were many Tanzaku made of Japanese papers. Eating ice cream, I was looking around at those decorations. I just gave one scoop of ice cream to Youka one-year-old!). Then, she was soooo happy and showed me a "yummy" pause. Eating ice cream as a first time was so much more exciting than looking at those decorations to Youka.

★According to the newspaper, more than 2 million people came to Sendai during the 3 day festival. It was soooo crowded.

すっごい楽しい時間をすごす　　have a blast

I'll take Youka to the beach this summer. Thinking of the travel, I prepared everyhing to make Youka have a blast under the sun - like beach sandals, swimsuits, sunscreen for baby. Also I prepared things for sand and water play, such as bucket, shovel, watering can and so on. Actually, finding those things was fun for me!

I’m （just one year old） back from Hong Kong. That was the first time to go to abroad. I was impressed! Traveling in a foreign country was not an easy thing for a baby like me, but it was fun! I rode on the ship to go to Macao. I had some Chinese foods that were so yummy but a bit oily for me. It was very hot and humid but I enjoyed the trip anyways.

These Hina Dolls are collected by old Japanese family. One of the significant dolls is “Tsurusi bina”, hanging many different dolls, such as herbal leaves to avoid insects ( the connotation of bad guys) and so on. People pray their daughter’s happiness decorating these dolls, which will take over all evil matter happen to their daughter. It’s really nice to enjoy Hina dolls in old Japanese house with the smell of Tatami mat.The number of dolls is...tremendous!

気取り・なりたがり wannabe

I cook baby food for Youka every day. I “have to”, but I also “love to” do it! Just the thing is…it takes time. Then, I just decide to play with it! Today, my theme is “wannabe Picaso.” Well, I don’t have the talent to paint, so I just put food paste on the plate like pigments. It’s artistic…isn’t it?…or maybe not.

夕立のあと　after the scattering shower

After the scattering showers, it stopped raining and I just went out walking.　The little drips on the leaves were shining with the glow of the sunset. Youka was looking around with widely opened eyes and enjoying the time after the rain.

I took the Shinkansen with Youka again!
Around Omiya, we saw three clouds floating in the sky.
They were like a family; Dad, mom and a child. They seemed very comfy.

ひいおじいちゃん・おばあちゃん great-grandpa/great-grandma

We took Youka to great-grandpa and great-grandma’s home. They were so happy to see Youka.　Youka also enjoyed the stay. Just the thing is…ｔheir house was built in the end of Edo period and they even had old Japanese warehouses, Kura. It’s a very nice and old house, however, the atmosphere was a bit scary for me as if the house were haunted by ghost…excuse me!　This is one of good memories of this summer.

You-ka took the Shinkansen for the first time. Usually I just hop into the coach right before leaving using coupon tickets. This time, however, I reserved a seat in advance and checked out the service room and everything. I was a kind of nervous with a three-month-old baby, but You-ka seemed very excited looking at everything. Well, I envy those baby times, when they don’t understand the situation and just enjoy

★If you are with baby and don’t want to bother people, you have to prepare to stand in the deck during your whole ride. then if your baby fall in sleep, you will feel you are lucky!

There is an old man, who always talks to You-ka whenever we pass by in front of his shop. But he was talking to a young girl and he didn’t even give a glance to You-ka today. Well, he seemed to prefer an adolescent girl to a baby. You-ka is a bit too young.

I found a world map made of felt. All the dolls are attached with magic tape and you can move them whenever you want to. A handmade map seems very sweet and it’s a very good idea that you can put these ethnic characters on by yourself isn’t it?
