Malaysia’s original lunch food, wrapped with a banana leaf is called Nashi minya. Enjoy the rice mixed with peanuts, dried fish, miso-like paste and so on. It tastes so much better than it looks. Eating hot and spicy food, you’ll sweat and make your body cool down. A namplar-like seasoning gives it an accent.

バナナの葉に包まれたお弁当、ナシミニャ。伝統的なナシミニャは、日本の５歳児には斬新すぎたらしく見ただけで降参。バナナに行きました。

We stayed at a villa with a pool. There was the sound of the waves and we got many wild animal visitors such as a monkey, birds, gecko and so on. In the villa, there was a living room, a bedroom, a study room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a private spa room and a pool. Also, we found a butler room. It’s not a special thing to come to vacation with their butler in this culture. There is a five-bedroom villa. That is for Islamic families that allow polygamy. They travel with all families together…I’m not sure if it’s fun to travel with those other families or not though…

リビングとベッドルーム。お願いしておいたら、リビングにひとつ余分ベッドも出してくれました。

ヴィラのプールは小さめ、でも深さ１３０センチ。浮き輪がないと立てないことに気付かない娘は、のんびり泳いでました。

←これがバトラーさん部屋。なんと奥に専用バス・トイレまで

今回の滞在は、マレーシアのクアラルンプールから飛行機で１時間ほど、ランカウイ島にある
「ウェスティン　ランカウイ　プール付ワンベッドルームヴィラ」　でした。

Mangrove trees grow in brackish water that is something between seawater and freshwater. Mangrove has a long stick-like seed. If you take off the seed part, it already has a shoot inside. It falls in the water and sticks into the mud or flows a distance and puts forth a bud.

Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea,. 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. Those small islands remind me of Matsushima islands. There are many different ethnic groups such as Malay, Chinese, Indian and many travelers from Islamic countries. I was so excited about the first visit to Malaysia.

There were many things that happened during the last one year, but Youka didn’t have any significant disease and was happy all through the year. She had a 39degree fever a few days ago however, her first since she had a 39 degree fever in Hawaii one and a half years ago. She was jumping around very next day; it means she’s quite healthy. It’s very nice to have her five-year-old birthday soundly. Happy birthday, Youka!

Youka loved these jack-in-a-boxes at first sight and she asked me for them for her birthday present, so I prepared them. It comes out of the box with the Happy Birthday song. Jack-in-a-box brings back memories and I bought an extra clown one with a birthday cake one. It comes out of the box vigorously.

I had a lunch with a friend of mine from BU at AUXAMIS TOKYO.
ボストン時代の友人マユミちゃんとオザミ東京のランチ。

I had a really tender grilled chicken and a not too sweet named “noble pudding” for the lunch specialty.
今回は、柔らかなチキンのグリルと、落ち着いた味の「高貴なプリン」のランチメニュー。
There were many foreigners.
なんだか外人さんも多かった。

In midstream, the rainy cloud went away and the city view of Tokyo spread out through the window. A bright, open feeling filled the restaurant.
途中で雨雲がふとどいて、ずーっと東京の街並みが窓の外に広がって、開放感いっぱいに。

Mayumi told me that Foie gras sandwich at the flagship restaurant is strongly recommended.
オザミ本店のフォアグラサンドもオススメだとか。聞いただけでおいしそう。

The editor-in-chief of ALCOM World, Koga-san, is going back to her hometown so I had a farewell meeting with her.
ALCOM　Worldの編集長だった古賀さんが、ご実家に戻ることになり、お別れミーティング。

Cafés she chooses always haves a cute and nice atmosphere and the meals are delicious.
彼女が選ぶお店は、いつも可愛くておいしいのです。

The lunch specialty we ordered was cream cheese croquette with Japanese peppercorns. The slightly but sharp and hot Japanese pepper taste really goes well with cheese and brown crispy batter.
今回は粒山椒のクリーム―ズコロッケ。ほのかにピリッする山椒は、クリームチーズや、キツネ色したカリカリの衣とよくあいます。

あらゆる語学を学ぶなら知っている人も多い「アルコムワールド」（昨年までの「アルクマガジン」）編集長は、こんな若くて美人だったんですヨ。

What I feel regret for is… missing her… Please come back to Tokyo and this industry someday! We miss you, Amiko.
残念なのは……彼女がいなくなること。また東京にも、この仕事にも戻ってきてね！

I had lunch with Koda-san of a weekly magazine. She took me to an old house café, Dada.
週刊誌のＫさんとランチ。小さな古い家のダダカフェに連れていってくれました。

It’s just an old wooden Japanese house; I don’t know why, but it’s very sophisticated and has a really comfy atmosphere. The meals they served were good for your health.
ただ古い木造の日本家屋なのに、なぜか、とってもシャレて居心地がよく、そしてヘルシーな料理。

We just chatted and laughed away every small complaint about our daily chores.
日常のちょっとしたグチをおしゃべりして笑いとばしてきました。

A three minute walk from Yoyogi station toward Meiji Ave., turn right at the corner of an alley.
ＪＲ代々木駅から明治通りに向かって徒歩３分。小さな路地で右折です。東京都渋谷区千駄ヶ谷5-23-10

IL Boccalone is an Italian restaurant, which is located in an alley not so far from Ebisu station. Yoda-san of Kodansha made a reservation for us.
恵比寿駅にほど近い、裏路地にある人気のイタリアン。
K社依田さんのアレンジ。

It’s a tiny but very cheerful place. A talent with her friend was having a small birthday party next to our table.
こじんまりと、でも活気があって、隣にタレントさんがバースデイしていたり。

Risotto was served with freshly grated parmigiano cheese and the salad with fresh beets and handmade pasta were all delicious.
パルメジャーノのチーズを削りながらいただくアツアツのリゾット、ビーツの入ったサラダに手打ちのパスタ。すべてがおいしいお店でした。
Cheese grilled on a pan had a good roasted fragrance and was crispy outside and soft inside.
スカモルツァチーズの鉄板焼きは、外はパリッと、中はやわらか。コンガリいい香りでした。
