神秘的な月　the mysterious power of the moon

今回は、英語で中秋の名月をみてみます。

The full moon in the middle autumnal month
of the old lunar calendar is considered particularly beautiful.
旧暦の秋の真ん中あたり（今の９月中ごろ）の満月は
特に美しいとされてきました。

That’s why it is so-called chushu no meigetsu or
juugoya (fifteenth night) otsukisama,
そんなわけで、「中秋の名月」や
「十五夜」の月と呼ばれているんですね。

There is a custom of making offerings to the moon,
such as otsukimi dango＊ and susuki＊ on the full moon day.
十五夜には、お月見団子＊やススキ＊など
お供えをする風習がありますけど、

Moonlight viewing is not only an elegant thing to do,
お月見は風情があるだけでなく、

but people have also traditionally believed in
the mysterious power of the moon and
have worshiped it since ancient times.
古くから月の神秘的な力が
信仰の対象とされてきたようですね。

お団子を買おうと思ったら、和菓子屋さんに行列が！
時間がなかったので、子供と約束のお団子は近くのお店で。
テスト期間中でお腹がすいていたらしく、
写真を撮る前に食べられて、形が崩れてしまいました。

和菓子屋さんのおいしさとは程遠いけど、
駄菓子っぽいのもまたおいしいです＾＾

さて、お餅であんこをくるむ、まあるい食べ物。
英語で説明するならば、
