Play with snow in the sunshine

子供の頃に戻ったような　I feel like going back to being a little kid.

The day after we had the heavy snow, I went to the park with Youka and made a snowman in the sunlight. After I started to make it, I remembered that I should roll the snowball on the snow spread on the ground to make a huge one. I felt like going back to being a little kid.

It's fun to have snow once in a while.

Lovers Rock Café

I just dropped by a popular hideaway “Lovers Rock Café” in Shinjyuku. It is located on the third floor of a small old multiple-tenant building. Once you open the door, the music’s strong beat pulls you into the pop culture spread throughout the room. The café is a place to enjoy chatting with your friends rather than to relax.

The café is located in the area right across Isetan toward 3chome.　It’s a bit difficult to find the place. Shinjyuku 3-10-10 is the address.

The reputation of Azuki Pepsi in foreign countries

奇抜な・おかしな　wacky

I tried Azuki Pepsi, a Japanese original product. It slightly has the flavor of Azuki red beans, but Azuki are not included in the ingredients. I found some comments, on YouTube, saying “the wacky Japanese…” and “some weird pairings out there” or something like that. Mmm, I agree with you guys in a way, but the taste is acceptable for me. Rising sun at the outside bath

朝の静けさ　serenity of the morning/　ふと目覚める wake up suddenly

I woke up suddenly and found the sun was just rising over the sea.
So, I decided to go into the private outside bath in my room (at the Japanese hotel.)
In the serenity of the morning, I was soothed by the hot spring. It’s great to have this kind of time once in a while.

Matuzaka beef

なめらかな（舌触り） very smooth texture / わざわざ〜にやってくる come all the way to〜

We came all the way to Mie, so we had gorgeous Matsuzaka beef steaks. In fact, it costs triple what the usual Japanese fillet does. Wow, is that so different? So we decided to order both of them to compare the taste. Well, the Matsuzaka beef fillet is more tender than the usual fillet and has a very smooth texture; though…If someone serves me the usual Japanese fillet as the one from Matsuzaka, I will just appreciate it. Both of them were really tender and tasty anyway.

Matsuzaka beef fillet lunch for 150g is 8900yen and Japanese beef fillet (I’m not sure where it is from) is 2500 yen. Both served with potage soup, salad, rice and entrée.

We came to Toaba aquarium. This is one of the biggest aquariums in Japan. The way they show us fishes is not so sophisticated and it seems to be more for experienced people* than ordinary audiences. The place is, however, of course a fun place. A dugong and a huge turtle were swimming in green water smoothly. The atmosphere makes me feel at ease.

*（Well, they show us something like fish preserved in formaldehyde in the center of the aquarium. Usually those are put away in a small room or hallway in other aquariums…)

Spain village with Onsen bath with a sea view

よくできた　well-made /期待以上の more than I expected

Sima Spanish Village is a well-made theme park simulating a Spanish town. Walking on the street you’ll feel as if you are in Spain. There are some rides such as a steep jet coaster, museums and even a huge pond you can ride ships on . In addition to those, there is a hot spring with a broad sea view! It was a fun place more than I expected!

Okage-Yokocho

To show appreciation for their business success to Ise ground shrine, many shops built a small village, Okage Yokocho, in front of the shrine. There are many shops and museums in it. You can enjoy Akafuku, a Japanese rice cake , Ise Udon, very soft and thick Japanese noodles eaten with soy sauce and so on. The place has a special atmosphere with old wooden Japanese houses. It’s a fun place to visit!

a couple of small rocky among splashes!

Meoto Iwa (or the Husband-and-Wife Rocks) are a couple of small rocky stacks in the sea off Futami, Mie. They are joined by a shimenawa (a heavy rope of rice straw) and celebrate the union in marriage of man and woman. It was windy, cold and I got a lot of splash! Is this so called “Okiyome?” (purification?) It was really cold.

Ise Grand Shrine

I visited Ise Gingu （Ise Grand Shrine）for New Year celebration. It is a Shinto shrine dedicated to goddess Amaterasu-omikami, the ancestor of Tenno. Ise Jingu is a shrine complex composed of a large number of Shinto shrines centered on two main shrines, Naiku; and Geku.It is said that we should visit them after we visited Meoto iwa though....


Ise Grand Shrine is located in the city of Ise in Mie prefecture, Japan.
