I have been so tired these days. I always carry around my PC and whenever I go to a café by myself, I tend to open my PC and start my writings. But not today!
I had hot black bean tea and felt at ease at this Japanese style café. You need this kind of time sometimes, don’t you?

Jam of Japanese butterbur

I had lunch at a bakery, POINT ET LIGNE. They serve a bread lunch, that’s how a bakery is, with six dips: Anchovy paste, liver paste, cream cheese and so on. One of the dips is very unique. It’s a jam (comfy) of Japanese butterbur. It tastes like fig but smells a bit of soil. It’s fun to have six different and tasty dips!

Good-bye to great-grand-father

残り〜年 〜 years to go.

Youka’s great-grand-father passed away. He was 98-years-old. (In the Buddhist way of counting, he was even 100-years-old!) He had lived a long and full life. It was so-called Daiojyo. It’s great that he even had his great grandchild. He might be satisfied with his life. If Youka lives till his age, she has 96 years to go! Well, what will she achieve in her life.

Noble rot wine

収穫する　pick / 菌　fungus

Noble rot is the benevolent form of a grey fungus, Botrytis cinerea, affecting wine grapes. When the dried grapes are picked at a certain point during the infestation, it can produce a particularly fine and concentrated sweet wine. This is Noble rot win. I had two glasses of Noble rot at Izakaya Vin, Shibuya. Not only the taste, but also the price was sooooo fantastic! (The most expensive one was 5000yen per glass…I didn’t try that one though…)

Oh! They are a ringer!

I had lunch with some friends from Nikkei BP. One of them, Yanase-san showed up with his wife and baby. The baby, Kaho-chan, looks as if she is a miniature of her dad. She totally, even her happy character, looks like her dad. When she started to get fidgety , dad started cradling her. Both of them seemed restless… that also makes her seem like a chip off the old block. She is a ringer for him!

The Decisive Moment

After dropping by Shimada Yosho, I was strolling around the Aoyama area.
I found a cat looking at me, so I just went to her to stroke her…suddenly! she jumped off the block and made the perfect landing! It was "The Decisive Moment" of the day..
(Henri Cartier-Bresson might say “How come?” and does not agree with me though…)

Talking over champagne for lunch

I had lunch with Kato-san of D publishing. He loves wine so we talk over Champagne (It’s a lunch meeting though…) at the French wine bistro, Le Pre Verre, Omotesando. I had the same drink just to be “social ” …well… actually I wanted to do so though…What impressed me was the layout of the lunch cuisine. I love the combination of pale color ingredients.

The lunch special seems very expensive doesn’t it? But it’s 1300yen! You might feel it’s a good deal for this cuisine, don’t you?
Le Pre Verre is located on the 4th floor of the same building as MOMA shop.

Finally it tore!

One of my everyday jeans had frayed around the edges. I have worn it for more than seven years and I plan to wear it till it’s completely worn out.
Well, it’s difficult to tell when I call it “worn out.”
I have really bad circulation so when I feel cold wearing these jeans, it is the time to call it “worn out,” I guess.

Konpirasan

通称〜　　　commonly called 〜・so called

Kotohira-g?, commonly called Konpira-san, is a Shint? shrine in Kagawa Prefecture. Located at 521m halfway to the top of Mount Z?zu, the shrine stands at the end of a long path, with 785 steps to the main shrine and a total of 1,368 steps to the inner shrine. I was holding 12kg Youka in my arms, so I decided to go up to the main shrine only. There were many old houses and shops on the way to the shrine. I felt as if I was walking in the olden time.

Breakfast with Baby Sardines

〜である理由　　There are reasons why〜

I had a very simple breakfast at Naoshima: steamed rice mixed with dried baby sardines and sour plum, miso soup with cabbage and shiitake, and steamed beans.
I prefer this kind of simple Japanese cuisine these days. Also, I enjoyed some fishes and seaweeds from Setonaikai.
There were many reasons why the breakfast was so delicious. One reason is because of the fresh ingredients and another reason is being able to eat (together) with family, I guess.
